What is a Book Byte?
A Book Byte is a brief glimpse into a book. It could be a type-written review, a vlog of yourself reviewing the book or you could make a book trailer. See the Book Bytes handout that came with your registration packet for more details.
What is a book trailer?
A book trailer is like a commercial for a book. It can either sum up an important scene, go over the key points of the plot (without giving away any spoilers!!) or it can focus on underlying themes and ideas.
What are Artist Trading Cards?
Artist Trading Cards (ATCs) are mini pieces of art the size of a baseball card (2.5” x 3.5”) meant to be traded. We will be making these in Abstract Space and the Watercolor Workshop. Can’t make the program, but still want to make one? All you need is a piece of paper cut to 2.5” x 3.5” and begin!
How do I adopt a shelf?
Stop by the Adult Reference desk when you have an hour to spare and inform them you would like to adopt a shelf. They will set you up with this great volunteer opportunity.
What is a zine?
A zine is a self-published magazine that can be about anything at all. We will be making them in our Zine Workshops this July!
I don’t have a Facebook account. Can I still complete teen summer reading?
Of course you can! All you need to do is substitute an activity square you can’t do with something that you can. Read the next section for more information on substitutions.
What are substitutions?
There are 10 opportunities for you to swap out any of the activities with the choice of either submitting a Book Byte or spending more time volunteering at the library. Just be sure to inform the Adult Reference librarian that you are substituting before they apply changes to your Bingo Board.
What is the grand prize?
One lucky winner will be selected at the end of the Punching Bag percussion performance to win the grand prize of a $50 gift certificate to Barnes and Noble along with an autographed YA book. Only teens that complete the Bingo Board may enter.
